Cycle Rules
🙏 Please remember that this is a charity event for FOCUS Ireland and not a race against the lock.
Our aim is to ensure that Santa cyclists have lots of fun and bring a smile to all kids young and old who will support us along the coastal route.
Event volunteers in hi-viz vests will be present to direct cyclists.
- No eScooters/eBikes allowed.
- You are responsible for your own safety - The event organisers in association with Cycle Ireland (Fiona Dunlea c/o Bray Wheelers) take no responsibility for any accidents/falls that may occur on the day of this event - Sunday November 30th from 5pm-6pm.
- You must rely on your own ability in dealing with all hazards and you must ride in a manner which is safe for yourself and all others.
- When riding on a public road the function of the event volunteers is only to indicate direction and you must decide whether the movement is safe.
- The event takes place primarily on our coastal cycle track but may cross public roads.
- The rules of the road apply at all times.
- Always give way to oncoming traffic at roundabouts and obey all road signs and traffic light signals.
- Stay a safe distance behind the lead vehicle and allow for breaking and stopping of this vehicle and your bike.
- Cyclists must give way to other road users where applicable.
- Always pass on the right hand side if overtaking another cyclist.
- All Participants must obey the instructions of the organisers.
- Helmets are COMPULSORY for all cyclists.
- Event volunteers cannot stop traffic.
- All bicycles should be well maintained and in a road worthy condition. Participants are advised to carry a pump, spare tube etc.
- Cyclists should cycle in single file on roads where there is a solid white line and in double file only at other times when it is safe to do so.
- All cyclists should be in good general health & over 18!
